Who do you think is right in the Iggy the Dog controversy: Ellen or the Shelter? Post your comments here! Well whatever anyone thinks, it's too late. Ellen is a animal lover and doesn't need publicity as it's been suggested. This agency could have handled things differently. I was not there, I can only comment on what I feel and think..so here goes.
Most adoption agencies explain the rules verbally ( maybe this agency should implement that rule ), if there is a breach of contract, ( as had happened here ) make a phone call to simplify and understand ths issues, if a family already has the animal ( whether it's a breach or not ) take the information and have the family fill out the application to adopt. As many people have already implied, the Department Of Child Welfare doesn't conduct such an investigation. People need to think before taking action, Ellen didn't ask anyone to make threats or to e-mail the owner of the agency, so please don't blame what's happening to this woman on anyone but herself.

Now we have reports of Iggy’s death?!! Oh please!! did poor little Iggy sit in front of the TV and put Ellen's pleas on a loop to watch 24/7 and then get chased by paparazzi to be so stressed out? I sincerely hope that post was just for attention by some misguided individual.
Iggy is obviously very well loved and while he's being bounced around which I'm sure is confusing, it does appear that he's going to people the genuinely want him and will presumably (hopefully) provide him with a very loving home. That being said, I work in animal rescues, and the animals I take in are usually abandoned so I hate to see them bounced between households as I feel stability is important to everyone, people and animals alike. I would have had the hairdresser's family fill out the paperwork and let the dog be. Yes Ellen apparently missed a portion of the contract but she didn't bring Iggy to the pound or abandon him, she gave him to a friend and co-worker and believed he'd be better cared for in that home than in her home with her cats. How is it wrong to put the dog's welfare first? To "Mom’s and Mutts" - this is a lot of free publicity for your rescue organization and for the animals you obviously love and care for -- doesn't it matter more that the dog is in a stable loving home than you having Ellen punished for not abiding by every dotted "I" and crossed "T" in your adoption agreement? I don't wish to vilify you but I do wish to point out that there is a much more reasonable approach to this entire situation in which everyone would be benefit and the animals that need rescuing (and your agency most of all) would reap the greatest of the rewards --- not to mention IGGY!! People who love animals get very impassioned but please, can’t we all just get along? Let’s do what needs to be done for those who can’t help themselves in the most mature, loving and reasonable way possible |

Ellen signed the contract with Mutts and Moms. The contract should be up held. The poor woman of the agency was just doing her job. Ellen was ridiculous on the show. Come on, there is much more important things going on in this world for Ellen to be balling on tv(COME ON she was ridiculous WHO DOES SHE THINK SHE IS) and making a big deal about this. The contract states it all. Ellen raising such a ridiculous stink about this has ruined the agency's owner life. She should sue Ellen!!!

My family adopted a wonderful dog from Mutts and Moms about 1 year ago and could not ask for a better experience! They helped us pick out the perfect dog for our family amd our lifestyle and held our hands through the whole process. They were very upfront about the contents of the contract and why it was written the way it was. They told us on several occuations that if things did not work out, we had to return the dog to them. There was no small print and it was not some deep dark legal secret that took a lawyer to figure out. Both of our friends who have since used Mutts and Moms to adopt had no trouble figuring it out. Our children had no trouble figuring it out. I am a huge Ellen fan and I have always respected her but I have to admit that I am very disappointed in her and the way she treated Mutts and Moms. They were so kind to us and obviously loved every animal that passed through their doors. In a society that puts thousands of dogs to sleep every year, it is very comforting to this animal lover that Mutts and Moms don't just give their animals to anyone. They are responsible enough to track these animals for life and make sure they don't fall into a bad situation somewhere down the road. Maybe these rules are "archaic" but I wouldn't think that the average person would find them too awfully hard to follow

I think if it was a good home then the agency should have let them fill out the papers and be done with it.
I think that rule they all have is archaic. I have seen dogs bounced back to the shelters so many times for almost no reason. We just inherited our Aunt's dog, as she passed away and they took him to animal control. Probably they just wanted the money to adopt him out again. Even though they are a looking out for homeless dogs welfare. They charge. Used to be to pay for the care and spaying. But now I think it has become a business. Let the dog go back. And Ellen, don't get anymore dogs. You have enough now. |
